Saturday night full of diving penalties

Last night there were quite a few diving penalties.

In the Devils-Islanders game last night, Islanders' Andy Hilbert was called for diving.

In the Sharks-Predators game last night, Predators' tough guy Jordin Tootoo was called for diving. Tootoo, known for his physical play, is also known to exaggerate things at times and goes down easy sometimes as well.

Martin Havlat caught diving again

In the Florida Panthers vs Chicago Blackhawks game a little earlier tonight, Blackhawks' winger Martin Havlat was caught diving and was penalized for it. This is now his second time called for diving, as he was penalized in the December 5th game vs the Vancouver Canucks.

So as of right now Havlat leads the NHL in diving penalties with 2.

Marian Gaborik gets caught diving

On Saturday, December 15th, in the Minnesota Wild vs Los Angeles Kings game, Wild winger Marian Gaborik got a penalty for diving. With a name like "Marian" I'm not surprised. He's a good player too that can score, but he like other soft stars in the game tend to embellish things at times.

Jarkko Ruutu penalized twice for diving in same game

On Thanksgiving day (November 22nd), in the Penguins-Senators game, Penguins' agitator Jarkko Ruutu was called for diving twice in the game. Everyone who watches hockey knows about Ruutu and his antics. A lot of players would love to be able to drop the gloves and pound him.

Scorer Marian Hossa called for diving

On Monday, November 19th, in the Lightning-Thrashers game, Thrashers' forward Marian Hossa was called for diving and given a penalty. This isn't something new for Hossa. He's a scorer and a really good player but does go down easy at times. He needs to stop doing that.

Steve Begin caught diving

Tonight in the Bruins-Canadiens game, Canadiens' forward Steve Begin was called for diving. Not a surprise to me, this guy and other Canadiens' players have been known for going down easy over the past few seasons.

Daniel Carcillo gets called for diving

On November 8th, in the Stars-Coyotes game, Coyotes' energy player Daniel Carcillo was called for diving. Carcillo is leading the NHL so far in penalty minutes with 75. He's a tough kid and it's too bad he dived to try and get a penalty call. I would think that the tougher players wouldn't do this but we all know some do.

October diving penalties

Well I just started tracking diving penalties starting with the games on October 31st, so this post is looking back in the month of October to see who got caught diving. Of course if I missed any diving penalties, please leave a comment and tell us who it was that got caught.

On Wednesday, October 3rd, in the Ducks-Red Wings game there were two diving penalties. The first diving penalty was called on Red Wings' goalie Dominik Hasek. What a surprise there huh? He may be the all-time goalie with the most dives (called or not called). Ducks' defenseman Francois Beauchemin was also called for diving.

On Thursday, October 4th, in the Maple Leafs-Senators game, Senators' tough guy Chris Neil was called for diving. Even though Neil is a tough guy, he has been caught a few times diving in the past as well.

Mike Ribeiro #1 NHL fairy

Former Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Ribeiro has to be the biggest fairy in the NHL today. If you don't remember his fairy acting job against the Boston Bruins in the NHL playoffs a few years ago, you can view the video of it below, courtesy of YouTube.com.
